Communications Senior Manager


The Communications Sr. Manager is responsible for assisting and developing, defining and executing critical aspects of the day-to-day communications efforts and the strategic media planning and implementation. The Communications Sr. Manager will promote the mission of Experience Kissimmee and is responsible for moderating communications between the organization and various media outlets nationally and abroad through the production of public relations, blog posts, press releases and other content initiatives. This position will provide assistance to the Vice President with regards to daily operations of the department.


•Consult regularly with the VP of Communications and applicable department staff on their communication needs in advance of and during the launch of dedicated advertising campaigns and special promotions.
•Responsible for working with the PR agency on the production of the Industry Partner newsletter. This includes reviewing first drafts, recommending edits to copy, distributing to internal team for verification of information specific to their areas and/or adding information for accuracy and clarity. Works through internal feedback, routes final newsletter to VP of Communications for final approval.
•Research programs and/or systems to track results of publicity and media relations outreach efforts. Responsible for collecting information for Board of Directors reports, verifying accuracy of collected information as well as producing a monthly or quarterly tabulation of media metrics for review by CEO, Sr. Staff or Board of Directors.
•Research and prepare press clippings distributed to staff and stakeholders. Responsible for reviewing and approving of compilation and distribution of news clips to staff and stakeholders (currently this is being distributed two times a week.).
•Manage the Experience Kissimmee Press Room and KissNewsWire Twitter Account. Responsible for ensuring the “PressRoom” Website content remains current at least monthly or consistent with new press material. Coordinates with the Digital Marketing team to upload and archive press material as appropriate.
•Works with VP to identify key discussion items for Communications Department team meetings held monthly or as needed. The Sr. Manager will be responsible for scheduling the meetings, rescheduling if needed, building agendas, recording action items and conducting the meeting in the absence of the VP.
•Research, develop and execute strategic communications that create awareness of Kissimmee as a destination of choice for leisure, business and sports travelers.
•Coordinate and conduct media missions, FAMs and local events involving attending media.
•Coordinate with VP of Communications or staff as appropriate to respond to media requests for information, and visits to the destination. Host and escort visiting media as appropriate.
•Coordinate with local industry partners in developing story ideas and itineraries for media, bloggers or social influencers.
•Travel to various key markets, both domestically and internationally, to meet one-one-one with journalists, social influencers and travel trade media.
•Responsible for coordination of work related to communications and public relations initiatives with international representation firms in assigned territories.
•Serve as Experience Kissimmee spokesperson on media missions domestically and internationally.
•Write, edit and ensure effective dissemination of press releases publicizing the destination and its industry partners.
•Assists the VP of Communications in developing Communication plans, strategies and budgets on an annual basis in support of the organization and destination.
•Establish and foster relationships that result in a responsive and productive consumer and travel trade media database.
•Cultivate and maintain relationships with traditional media and bloggers locally, domestically and internationally.
•Host and conduct Twitter Parties to include developing the timeline, the promotional blog post and identifying the host, as appropriate.
•Maintain regular contact and foster relationships with Industry Partners.
•Write, edit and upload content for website blog(s) and Press Room.
•Edit and review copy and content materials submitted by staff and international representation firms.
•Monitor coverage of Experience Kissimmee, the destination and events with potential to impact Osceola County tourism and report to executive team.
•Provide fact checking services for articles pertaining to the destination.


•Bachelor’s Degree in communications, public relations, journalism, advertising or related fields.
•Minimum of 5 years of experience in communications, public relations and/or media relations.
•Proficiency in MS Office suite. Must have database experience.
•Experience with AP Style.
•Ability to effectively and efficiently manage priorities.
•Must be comfortable speaking to journalists and pitching story ideas and news about the destination.
•Experience managing departmental projects/initiatives, budgets is required. Experience managing relationships with contracted agencies and vendors is a plus.
•Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with creative agencies, departmental staff, supervisors, industry partners as well as the general public.
•Requires the ability to understand and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, organizational skills, both analytical and problem solving.
